DJ LOGIC AND FRIENDS
05/09/2009 Doors Open: 9:00 - Headliner Begins: 10:45 “The theorem of turntablist as musician has been long proven in the capable hands of DJ LOGIC, whom with jazz as his foundation has become a wax innovator by crossing genres and sprinkling his sound across the map. As one of the world's most accomplished turntablist’s, DJ LOGIC is widely credited for introducing jazz into the hip - hop realms and is considered by most as a highly respected session musician and an innovative bandleader. 9pm doors with midnight ace MIDNIGHT ACE - Legendary performers such as Herbie Handcock, Africa Bambatta, Kraftwork, and the Art of Noise really moved Midnight Ace towards emusic. Later on Delight, Snap, and Mars kept him grooving on what he later settled into as House Music. It was then he that he became influenced by local Charlotte dj's like Fuzz, Chuck Martin, and Spirit Child. Each had thier own style, had a great amount of skill, and they were very accessable for help if you asked them. The Midnight Ace is always listening and learning. http://www.myspace.com/muuhaaa AGOBI PROJECT - Formed in the eclectic musical hotbed of Asheville, NC, in the fall of 2008, Agobi Project fuses elements of jazz, electronica, drum n' bass, hip hop, funk, and IDM. Their original compositions channel everyone from John Scofield to Aphex Twin, but it's their ability to improvise that sets them apart. Live, the chemistry of these young musicians -- Andrew Kirk on guitar, Nick Wankel on drums/SPD and David Krantz on laptops/bass synth -- is undeniable. http://www.myspace.com/agobiproject
