Doors Open: 8:00 - Headliner Begins: 10:30

The main writer, mark mathis, formed 'Public Radio' in late 2006 as another creative musical outlet and to escape the 'singer/songwriter' pigeonhole. The band went through several members and musical transformations as they toured 200+ dates in 2006 and 2007. Once the original drummer rejoined the band in mid 2007, public radio decided that they needed a fresh new sound to go with the new lineup. The band traveled to Regensburg, Germany to record their first ep with longtime friend and producer, nicolas balachandran. It was in the rolling hills of southern Germany that Public Radio glimpsed what could be. The resulting music catapulted them to the forefront of the Charlotte live music scene with its unique blend of electronica and rock 'n roll. The band is in the middle of showcasing for multiple labels and management with a deal to be announced soon.

COLOR ACADEMY

COLOR ACADEMY

Start Time: 9:15

More than surviving. More than being ok. More than just scraping by -
Maybe it’s a statement of hope. Maybe it’s desperation. Maybe it’s their own brand of Carpe Diem.

Whatever it may be, the line “I refuse to watch my life through a telescope” closes out the newly released Through Telescopes EP by small town Alabama natives, Colour Academy, and pretty much sums up the feel of the entire offering.

The 6 track collection of arena sized songs produced by Matt Malpass (Copeland, Lydia, Relient K, Manchester Orchestra) is out now on iTunes, other digital retailers and in select stores.

Influences Listening to 95.1 The Edge on my walkman radio under the covers, so my mother wouldn't know, as I went to sleep in elementary school, falling hopelessly in love with rock music.
Sounds Like Damien Rice, Norah Jones, Ryan Adams, John Denver, James Taylor, Josh Ritter, Mark Mathis, David Bazan, Sufjan Stevens, Johnny Cash, John Mayer, sun kil moon, The New Frontiers.
