DARK PARTY is the electronic dance project of popular Brooklyn-based
beats producer ELIOT LIPP and his Chicago-based friend LEO 123. They
produce and DJ electronic music influenced by Hip-Hop, Disco, Electro
and Techno, each with their own respective critically hailed releases.
Eliot has seen past international success having released albums on
his own Old Tacoma label, as well as labels like Hefty, Mush, and
EastDev. Leo has produced for MCs like Subtitle, and No Can Do,
collaborated/remixed with John Hughes, Vyle and STS9, while also
releasing some of his own productions on Mush and Old Tacoma Records.
Having originally met at The San Francisco Art Institute several years
ago, the Dark Party project actually didn’t come together until 2005 -
formed as an outlet to pay tribute to the duo's favorite classic
Electro, Disco & Hip-Hop producers, while forging their own path
towards the perfect modern beat. Dark Party creates fun, upbeat,
electro-funk masterpieces - a bit more upbeat & dancier than their own
respective solo ventures. Their sound could sometimes be compared to
modern acts like Metro Area/Morgan Geist, Daft Punk, DFA, Jimmy Edgar,
while giving nods to classic dance beats from the 80’s & 90’s (like
Mantronix, Newcleus, Model 500/Juan Atkins, etc). It’s a sound that
equally pulls & pushes from the past, present and future, while the
songs smartly morph in and out of themselves with a masterful sense of
melody, rhythm and attention to detail. The songs are strong enough
to rock a packed dancefloor, yet absolutely hold their own with
headphone/home listening as well.
Over the last couple years, Dark Party have been rocking many one-off
gigs, sharing the stage with acts like Daedelus, Gaslamp Killer,
Skream, Prefuse 73, Mike Slott, edIT, Bassnectar & many others. They
have also been commissioned for remix work from the likes Daedelus,
Duopandamix, Labwaste and Retina.IT, in addition to releasing th
exclusive song “Active” on the hugely popular ‘Ghostly Swim’
compilation in 2008 (a Ghostly Recs & Adult Swim collab).
The future seems bright for this dynamic duo as every move Dark Party
makes finds their loyal fan base growing more and more. It’s hard to
believe their debut album hasn’t been released yet, but when it
finally drops you can bet it will be hugely received. For now, fans
at each show will be treated to all of the great music that will
appear on the forthcoming album, as well as brand new, unreleased
future classics from a pioneering production duo who have been praised
from a wide range of fans & critics - from Pitchfork to Dazed &
Confused, from XLR8R to High Times, from The Fader to Okayplayer.
Music this good defies musical boundaries.

Minnesota native, now Brooklyn based, MUX MOOL is prepared to blow
fans away in 2009. After being on iTunes best of in 2006 with the song
"Lost and Found," he hit best of again in 2008 with Best Track "Death
9000 (Machinedrum remix)." That same year he was picked as Best New
Artist with the 7-song experiment titled "Drum EP" and had a song on
the iTunes Best Instrumental album pick, which was Moodgadget's
"Synchronicity Suite" with the track "10.” Moodgadget is the label
home of Mux Mool currently. MM’s song "Night Court" was also featured
on the collaboration compilation between Ghostly International and
Adult Swim called "Ghostly Swim" which also had an animated BoyCatBird
video and an Adult Swim bump. The compilation was downloaded for free
by thousands upon thousands of eager online music fans. After a tour
in October of 2008, Mux Mool settled back in Brooklyn to finish two
upcoming releases - "Just Saying Is All" is scheduled for release on
Moodgadget, and a full-length LP entitled "SKULLTASTE" is still in the
works. More recently in Spring of 2009, Mux Mool was bestowed with
the honor of “NEXT 100” artist editor’s pick by URB Magazine as a new
artist to watch in the future. Keep an open ear/eye for this rising
talent!
Not much is known about MEXICANS WITH GUNS. Yeah there are the
rumors, supposed teenage bandito... others say he made money hustling
suckers in the pool halls. Some people claim to have partied with
Mexicans with Guns, drinking tequila shots until the early morning...
downing bowls of salsa on a dare. The truth is that most of his
history is unaccounted for... kind of a modern day Pancho Villa.
What we do know is that this year has been on full blast for Mexicans
with Guns. In no time at all, he has gone from selling fruit cups and
mixtapes from the back of his El Camino to tearing up SXSW to being
touted by URB Magazine as one of the Next 100 Artists. And what does
Mexicans with Guns exactly sound like? Imagine listening to a dubstep
remix of an NWA track while doing a drive by if you just drank a bunch
of lean while visiting the dirty south. Ahh, good times. His remixes
of Faunts, Animal Collective, and Jogger to name a few, have been
heating up the interweb and dance floor alike. MwG most recent
release on Exponential Records, Nuts and Bongos, finds him
collaborating with the MC’s Cerebral Vortex and Spoek Mathambo (Adult
Swim / African Swim) and features the remix talents of Cobra Krames,
Ninjasonik, Robot Koch of Jahcoozi, and Raziek (GTO). What’s next for
Mexicans with Guns? Avoid la migra (immigration), fight for the cause
(still currently looking for one), and make mas beats that go hard.
