PUBLIC RADIO
07/16/2009 Doors Open: 7:30 - Headliner Begins: 10:00
The main writer, mark mathis, formed 'Public Radio' in late 2006 as another creative musical outlet and to escape the 'singer/songwriter' pigeonhole. The band went through several members and musical transformations as they toured 200+ dates in 2006 and 2007. Once the original drummer rejoined the band in mid 2007, public radio decided that they needed a fresh new sound to go with the new lineup. The band traveled to Regensburg, Germany to record their first ep with longtime friend and producer, nicolas balachandran. It was in the rolling hills of southern Germany that Public Radio glimpsed what could be. The resulting music catapulted them to the forefront of the Charlotte live music scene with its unique blend of electronica and rock 'n roll. The band is in the middle of showcasing for multiple labels and management with a deal to be announced soon. Discography
FLAGSHIP
Start Time: 9:00
First there was Drake Margolnick. He and longtime friend Logan Fincher began writing and recording music under the name Flagship Brigade in the year 2003. In the fall of 2007, Flagship Brigade was asked to enter a contest held in the Anaheim Convention Center in California. Margolnick agreed to play before having a full band to pull off the show. Austin Forbes and Jonathan Hussey were in a band. That band went its separate ways and Austin and Jon joined the Brigade. Now with enough members, the band was off to Anaheim to play for over six thousand people. They won the competition and the rest is history. The four of them continued to play shows in the Charlotte area. Unsatisfied with the way the way their live performances were going, the band felt they needed another member. Alexander Watson, an old friend, was in another band, but had always had an appreciation for Flagship Brigade. When his band broke up, Alexander became the fifth and final member, thus creating what is now known as Flagship.
