TOT VOLUME 3 TEN OUT OF TENN TOUR
09/24/2009 Doors Open: 7:00 - Headliner Begins: 8:00 NASHVILLE'S MUSIC SCENE HITS THE ROAD!
A little background on the Ten…
Kyle Andrews grew up in the Chicago suburbs and moved to Nashville hoping to find a place where people didn’t look at him funny when he said he wanted to make records. Andrews’ debut Amos in Ohio married the acoustic appeal of indie singer-songwriter fare with unexpected electronic elements. Following on the heals of his second release, the stripped-down EP Find Love, Let Go, Andrews’ Real Blasty takes his homespun tunes to a happier place—the words still tell their fair share of sad tales, but the sound is brighter, dancier and crackles with more mature technical dexterity. Andrews decided to release his latest independently, relying on his own imprint, Elephant Lady Records.
Born in Chicago, Andrew Belle is a recent addition to the Nashville artist community. He released his debut EP All Those Pretty Lights in 2008, and has since had songs featured in hit TV shows including CW’s “90210” and MTV’s “The Real World.” His song “I’ll Be Your Breeze” garnered nationwide radio airplay including steady rotation on Los Angeles tastemaker station KCRW’s critically acclaimed show “Morning Becomes Eclectic.” Belle’s debut full-length release, The Ladder, will be released this fall. Trent Dabbs Trent Dabbs is the founding member of TOT and has received national acclaim both for his own recordings and also for his collaborations with other artists. Dabbs’ music has been featured on various television shows including “The OC,” “The Mountain,” “The Hills,” “October Road” and the new film Nothing But the Truth (starring Kate Beckinsale) as well as earning him an opening slot for REM. His most recent placement was a song he co-wrote with fellow TOT member, Joy Williams, “Charmed Life,” which was featured on this years’ “Grey’s Anatomy” finale. Trent also co-wrote two songs on Mat Kearney’s new album: “Lifeline” (cowritten with TOT member Matthew Perryman Jones) and “Never Be Ready.” Madi Diaz Raised in Lancaster, PA, Madi Diaz moved to Philadelphia with her family to attend Paul Green’s School of Rock and wound up a featured pupil in the 2005 documentary film about the program, Rock School. That experience led to three years at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she met her longtime collaborator Kyle Ryan. Since the release of their debut album, Skin and Bone, Diaz and Ryan have continuously performed including gigs at 2009’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts festival, the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival and WXPN Philadelphia’s XPoNential Music Festival. Producers Ian Fitchuck and Justin Loucks (Landon Pigg, De Novo Dahl, Griffin House) became fast friends and just as quickly collaborators, the first byproduct of which is Diaz and Ryan’s new EP, Ten Gun Salute. Mikky Ekko Nashville native Mikky Ekko’s vocals have been compared to Jeff Buckley and Freddie Mercury while his stage-presence, lyrical poetry, and emotional intensity has been likened to The Doors’ Jim Morrison. Produced by Tim Lauer and recorded at Dogwood Studios in Nashville, Ekko’s debut EP Strange Fruit was released earlier this year. Ekko is currently working on his next EP and plans to tour London this winter. Jedd Hughes Australian-born Jedd Hughes found success early in life winning first place at the Port Pirie Country Music Festival at age eight and subsequently touring throughout Europe with the International Music for Youth group. After moving to Nashville, Hughes began playing guitar for Patty Loveless and eventually signed with MCA Records, who released his debut album Transcontinental in 2004. In addition to Loveless, Hughes has collaborated with many acclaimed artists including Rodney Crowell and Eric Church. Hughes also recently performed at the 2009 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. Ashley Monroe Ashley Monroe has had two singles break above 50 on Billboard. In late-2008, Monroe collaborated with The Raconteurs and Ricky Skaggs on The Raconteurs single, “Old Enough,” which is currently in rotation on CMT. Since then, Monroe has continued to collaborate with The Raconteurs’ Brendan Benson, which has resulted in a brand new 13-song album. Additionally in 2008, Monroe began collaborating with TOT founder Dabbs, which resulted in the recent iTunes release, Ashley Monroe & Trent Dabbs. Monroe is also featured in Mat Kearney’s brand new iTunes music video “All I Have.” K.S. Rhoads As a returning member of TOT, K.S. Rhoads is one of the most respected musicians and artists in Nashville. Rhoads is currently promoting his debut album, Dead Language and has recently wrapped a series of shows with Marc Broussard. In addition to Dead Language, Rhoads has two new albums due out later this year and has also been selected as one of Myspace’s featured artists. In recent months, Rhoads has toured with fellow TOT member Erin McCarley and has performed on both “Conan O’Brien” and “Craig Ferguson.” Sarah Siskind Sarah Siskind has found new ways to unite her varied musical strengths on Say It Louder, her 6th studio album. Widely respected across acoustic, pop and rock music fields, Sarah’s songs have been recorded by top-tier singers and rising talent in Nashville and beyond. Bon Iver was so taken with her song “Lovin’s For Fools” that the popular indie-rock act closed most of their shows with the song on their 2008 tour and subsequently invited her on a recent European tour. Allison Krauss has also recorded her songs including the Grammy-nominated single “Simple Love.” Recently, Siskind’s song “Say It Lounder” was featured as NPR’s “Song of The Day” and, in October, she will perform at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Joy Williams Joy Williams signed a recording contract with Reunion Records (a division of Sony/BMG music) at age 17 after declining several offers at age 14 in order to finish high school. From 2000-2005, she built a following by touring extensively and releasing three records: a self-titled debut (2001), By Surprise (2002), and Genesis (2005). To date, the three releases have sold over 250,000 copies worldwide. Earlier this year Williams’ song “Charmed Life,” which she co-wrote with TOT founder Trent Dabbs, was featured for over 2 minutes during the opening scene of the “Grey’s Anatomy” season 5 finale.
