BALLYHOO! is undeniably turning the world of music upside down and sideways as they blur the lines between rock, reggae, punk and pop to craft their own hybrid of music that can't be held down to one definitive genre. This signature sound of theirs is one they have been perfecting since their high school days in Aberdeen, Maryland - the sweet melodic voice of lead singer and guitarist Howi Spangler; the hard hitting beats set forth by brother and drummer Donald "Big D" Spangler; the skillfully added funk of bassist JR "Mista J" Gregory and Scott Vandrey (aka DJ Blaze) rounds it out on the turntables and keys.
BALLYHOO!'s unique sound, hardcore devotion to the road and to their fans, partnered with their irresistible "life of the party" approach have pitched them into the position of America's favorite feel good party band. They didn't get here by accident; rather, they had been single-handedly growing their empire through unparalleled hard work and dedication until Jan 2011, when they got a well-deserved nod from LAW Records and were signed to the Hawaii-based independent record label. PEPPER, the dub rock music mega-sensation and owner of LAW Records, says of their newest addition, "Having Ballyhoo! join the LAW Records family is a perfect fit. They are an incredibly talented band with a really catchy style". Now, with the backing of LAW, 2011 promises to be a paramount year on BALLYHOO!'s trajectory destined for greatness!
OF GOOD NATURE
Start Time: 8:00
Of Good Nature is an extremely talented and fast upcoming trio, reigning from Charlotte, NC. Their original music, due to its variety, is difficult to pin into one genre. The sound is generally described as Rock/Reggae/Funk, with bursts of instrumental jam sessions that constantly demand their audiences’ attention.
The group’s unique, tight, yet full sound derives from its creatively driven members. OGN consists of Cameron Brown (lead vocals/guitar), Joey Vachon (backup vocals/drums), and Chris Andrews (bass). The band’s original songs display a range of emotions, anywhere from high-energy and upbeat to a mellow groove you can chill to. Either way, OGN yields a reggae vibe, a catchy melody, and a funky bass-line that will force you to dance. The three musicians got their start in the entertainment world at a young age. As teenagers they would play small sets at restaurants and bars in Charlotte, NC and Charleston, SC under the name, Just Add Water.
It was early in 2011 when music became the bands number one priority. The three relocated back to their hometown of Charlotte, NC and dubbed themselves Of Good Nature. In a short amount of time OGN has reached as far as our nation’s capital, Washington D.C. and has gained sizeable followings in Charlotte, Boone, and Charleston. The Trio has just released their first album, "Just Add Water", and can be found on Itunes, Amazon ect... Of Good Nature is jammin’ out regularly on the east coast so don’t miss the next show!
