You Me & Apollo started with the musical exploration of Colorado-born Brent Cowles. His first EP, How To Swim, How to Rot, was released in 2007 while attending school in Arizona. His inevitable return to Colorado ushered in the release of Cowles’ debut LP, Cards With Cheats, a full band sound that gives hits of doo-wop, soul, blues, and alt-country.

The band’s current lineup began to take shape when Cowles employed the talents of drummer Tyler Kellogg and guitarist/singer Jonathan Alonzo for You Me & Apollo’s first tour. Shortly after guitarist Morgan Travis and bassist Dave Cole joined the band. The new lineup brought about the release of a 7” vinyl in 2012, and a self titled EP in early 2013, which refined Cowles’ alt-country songwriting style into a stompy blues and sing along folk rock with hints of the psychedelic and soul music on which the members had been raised.

The band spent the next year touring nationally, supporting acts such as Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers, Dr. Dog, Brandi Carlile, ZZ Ward, Churchill, Nathaniel Rateliff, Hey Marseilles, Tea Leaf Green, Third Eye Blind, DeVotchKa, Aaron Freeman (of Ween), and Dashboard Confessional…and played many festivals such as Hangout (AL), Shaky Knees (GA), Doe Bay (WA), Four Corners (CO), SXSW (TX), Taste of Randolph (IL), and Fall for Greenville (SC), In October 2013, the band travelled to Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN where they began work on a new album assisted by producer/engineer Jeff Powell. In November of 2013, the band released 4 tracks engineered by Patrick Stolley of Future Appletree Studio in the form of a Daytrotter Session.
