Mesa, AZ based punk rock royalty Authority Zero has managed to weather the music industry storm and endure living on the road away from friends and loved ones for almost 2 decades. With four studio albums under their belt, two live acoustic albums, and two EP’s, they appear to be just getting started. Over the past few years the band has broke ground internationally, beginning with shows in Japan, followed by performances at Belgium's legendary Groezrock, Spain’s Resurrection Fest and UK's Rebellion Fest amongst countless other European festivals. With tours through Russia and Australia in the works, Authority Zero continues to seek new destinations to spread their live show and music.

Initially their goal was simple; create a sound that paid tribute to their punk rock forefathers, but not confined by the musical barriers that typically bound the genre together. Now,18 years later, they have just wrapped on their fifth full-length studio album. Named after the Malcolm Gladwell book, The Tipping Point was recorded with producer Cameron Webb (Pennywise, Social Distortion, Motorhead etc.) at Maple Studios in California. Their latest effort pays tribute to their punk rock forefathers while expanding their musical boundaries into unconventional reggae and rock tinges beyond the typical punk rock aesthetics, creating a whirlwind rock album that will undoubtedly take listeners by storm.

The new album is set to be released on April 2nd via Hardline Entertainment-US/Canada/Japan, Concrete Jungle-Europe/UK and 3wise Records-Australia and will be followed by a heavy touring schedule around the globe.  Lead Singer and Front Man, Jason DeVore says "The excitement and anticipation for the new album The Tipping Point that I have is unparalleled,” says vocalist Jason DeVore. “The closest thing I can think of is how I felt when we first released A Passage In Time so many years ago. You feel you're really doing something right when you and the members of your band are rocking out to it like it's their new favorite album that just came out. That's how it should feel. The energy, the intensity, and collaborative sounds along with a new realm of production working with Cameron Webb has made it extremely intense. It's a taste of the old school and slingshots into new areas and veins of music we have yet to tap into. We've also incorporated some surprise elements. It's an album based on the idea of tipping the scales, unity, causing a ruckus while forging on, and the history and future of all who have been involved and will be for years to come. We're fired up."

COUNTER PUNCH

Start Time: 9:20

NEW Album "Bruises" 08/05/14 from Cyber Tracks!

Chicago based punk rock band Counterpunch formed in 2004. The lineup currently consists of Eric Hausser, Jared Rohde, Jim Margle (We Are the Union) & Brian Phee (Break the Silence).

Their self-titled debut album was released in 2007 both on their own imprint, Punch It Records, along with Radtone Records in Japan. The next few years were spent performing with regional, national, and international acts in support of the release.

Their second full-length record brought them to new heights, expanding their fan-base both domestically and abroad. It was released internationally in late 2010 titled "Heroes & Ghosts" on Radtone Records (Japan), Disconnect Disconnect Records(UK), Funtime Records (Belgium), No Reason Records (Italy), and Fond of Life Records (Germany). It would later be released by Go Kart Records domestically in the spring of 2011 with alternate artwork by Derek Deal under the title "Dying to Exonerate the World".

Following their first European tour in 2011, Counterpunch would return in the spring of 2012 with spots on both the Groezrock and Jera-On-Air festivals. The band supported a variety of bands throughout the tour, including Nothington, Belvedere, Mute, The Copyrights, Authority Zero and Versus the World.

Since their formation, they have also had the pleasure of sharing the stage both locally & internationally with The Vandals, Strung Out, Death by Stereo, We Are the Union, This Is a, Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, A Wilhelm Scream, The Swellers, Much the Same, Only Crime & many more building a worldwide following along the way.

In the summer of 2012, the band began writing & recording their long awaited follow-up LP, "Bruises," which will be released on CD / Vinyl / Digital from Cyber Tracks (Jen & El Hefe [NOFX]) on August 5th, 2014.

Produced, mixed & engineered by Matt Allison (Alkaline Trio, The Menzingers, Less Than Jake) at Atlas Studios in Chicago and mastered by Chris Fogal (Implants) at Black In Bluhm Studios in Denver, CO. "Bruises" features fast paced, fist pumping tracks that combine quintessential elements of the 90's So Cal melodic punk scene with modern day melodic alternative/punk rock.

In November of 2012, Counterpunch made their way down to Costa Rica for both an intimate headlining show & a sold out 2,000+ capacity venue as direct support for Chicago punk stalwarts Rise Against (Geffen Records). Look for the band to be performing both local and international shows in support their upcoming LP.

RUBEDO

Start Time: 8:35

Fate, serendipity, kismet, cosmic coincidence, chemical chance. Something inexplicable brought Rubedo together. The band's name comes from an alchemical concept and that seems appropriate enough when you spend any amount of time around these guys or just listen to their recorded output.

Gregg Ziemba, Kyle Gray and Alex Raymond all met before getting out of high school and were all recognized as creative talents in their youth that would blossom later in life. They were jazz guys then and you can still hear that spontaneity honed by discipline in their music now. But when Kyle went on an existential/spiritual journey, hiking across the country he woke up one day after an epiphany struck him and he called Gregg to start the band.

It clicked from there and the duo got together with Alex and started a band that had that informal structure and flexibility of free jazz, the noisy psychedelic freakout instincts of the wilder ends of The Mars Volta and a deeply rooted sense of compassion for each other and the rest of humanity that informs how these guys operate and engage with the rest of the world. That wellspring of good instincts, good spirits and psychological and creative openness that drew the band to interesting experiences and unexpected opportunities the list of which reads like fiction.

It started with the band meeting Isaiah "Ikey" Owens, the keyboardist of The Mars Volta, who has gone on to become a friend, mentor and collaborator with the band as well as producing Rubedo's first album, Massa Confusa, and its latest opus, Love Is the Answer. Owens was like the god Janus that opened some doors for and within the band, challenging it to step up and not merely be a local phenomenon.

Through the DIY space Unit E, Rubedo had the chance in 2012 to curate the Blacktop Music Festival and shutting down a couple of streets in downtown Denver--something that rarely happens for much of anything beyond the occasional parade or visits from heads of state. In 2013, Rubedo was also asked to perform at Denver International Airport for a month, several hours a day. Experimental rock bands don't get asked to do things like that but that's the story of Rubedo.

Its music is out of left field but incredibly accessible. It has a core of improvisation built into the sound, the performances and the songwriting but never feels self-indulgent. There is something inviting about the band's music even in its most fiery moments like you're sharing the same dream, the same feelings without being subsumed by anyone else's vision.

Love Is the Answer may sound like a hippie platitude but with Rubedo it is a simple formula for salving the ails of the modern psyche without telling you how that has to look, the form it has to take and without suggesting a timeframe. Rather, it is a fundamental statement of everyday spiritual solidarity with the struggles of being alive and a subtle but powerful act of kindness given from that tranquil place in all of us we must cultivate in these troubled times.
